UShak. A town of west central Turkey with a tradition of rug production which began as early as the 15th century. It is most famous for its 16th century star, medallion and prayer rug designs. At the end of the 19th century, due to the demand for large room size rugs in Europe and the United States, a production on a large scale commercial basis began taking place there. Rugs from the Ushak region have wool pile on wool foundation and most are crudely made with low knot counts. Most Ushaks have the medallion design or the all over pattern design. Fine Ushaks with attractive designs and good color combinations are very sought after for their decorative purpose. Our new Ushak rug are made with vegetable dyes and handspun wool.

wool Caucasian long carpet is a stunning elegant red fielded rug with a
riot of serapi style designs embedded in it.  The pattern beautifully
done and  well executed.  This carpet is very pleasing and elegant. 
The precise mathematics of this design is stunning. This is no easy fete
to accomplish in a textile that is completely hand made and knotted
with vegetal dyes and fine fibers. The herati design is a natural for
the Sarouk area rugs.    This is a gorgeous and elegant rug.  It is very
ordered in appearance and will lend itself to many types of decor. 
This is an antique rug  with great charm.  It
is a rug that will provide warmth and character wherever it is lain and
in many types of decor.  Make no mistake this rug is a score!

The
pile is intact and has minimal wear overall.   The design is fluid and
efficient with plenty of complimentary accents.  The colors are natural
dyes and the foundation and workmanship is equipped and hardy. 

 This
rug has fabulous colors. They have aged beautifuLlY and not only become
quite muted but very rich and lively looking.  The pile is originally a
low cropped rug as a fine carpet should be.  The knotting is typical
for a rug of this type asymetrical and open to the left.

Look
at the fabulous borders in this piece.  The intricacy of the borders
and the number of them indicates a finer piece. Only the finest carpets
have multiple borders like this because they are so difficult to make.

This
rug has no odors, moth bites, tears,  rips, color runs or dry rot.  The
pile is soft and lush.  It is a low cropped rug indicative of the finer
Persian carpets with minimum wear.  This is a fantastic  piece. Again
