3'7 X 10'6 GOOD QUALITY LOVELY SEMI ANTIQUE PERSIAN SAROUK RUNNER RUG

Sarouk is a village located in the province of Markazi in central Iran. Sarouk rugs are made in and around this village in both village and workshop settings. In general these well-known rugs are of very high quality. They are woven with good quality wool on cotton foundation with the asymmetrical knot. Sarouk rugs can be geometric or curvilinear in patternThe traditional designs consist of herati, boteh, or gul hannai motifs in either an all-over or medallion layout. The medallion layout could have a hexagon, oval, diamond, round or angular floral-shape medallion. The most interesting traditional design is a medallion-and-corner layout which consists of geometric yet very naturalistic floral motifsThe main colors used in the traditional designs consisted of red, blue, burnt orange, ocher and champagneCarpets and rugs from ARDABIL are beautiful and there is a particularly high demand for old ones, so they are more expensive than carpets from the surrounding area.

1904 St Louis World’s Fair Souvenir Spoon Louisiana Purchase Very Ornate 1904

The top of the spoon is engraved "World's Fair St Louis 1904", with a winged figure holding a torch;beneath
that is a statue of a rider on horseback and "St. Louis". Below that is
another group of figures and "Music"; at the base of the spoon is a
female figure on a globe above an olive branch. The INTRICATE DETAILS
are amazing!The bowl of the spoon is engraved with
three buildings: "U.S. Government Building", "Festival Hall and
Cascades" which shows the fountains in front of the hall, and "Palace of
Liberal Arts". At the base of the design are engraved the words:
"LOUISIANA PURCHASE".The back of the handle has another scene and "Palace of Varied Industries";beneath that an image of a statue and "Columbus Statue". with an OH emblem. The OH stands for Hirsch & Oppenheimer, Chicago, IL. 1904 to 1927-- you can always make me a offer. weighs approximately 29 grams.

3'7 x 9'8 VERY PLUSH SEMI ANTIQUE PERSIAN VILLAGE HAMEDAN ZANGAN KURDISH RUNNER RUG

Beautiful tribal persian rugs are made in the city and in the surrounding area of Hamadan in Northwestern Iran. Hamadans are quite durably constructed due to the rugged wool spun from hardy sheep in the higher, cooler altitudes. The patterns vary in rugs from this city from geometric, to floral or overall Herati designs. Hamadan is an important city in the carpet industry because along with its many surrounding villages, it produces countless numbers of floor pieces that are all unique and remarkable in their own way. This Khamseh has nothing to do with the Southwest Persian tribal confederation. Khamseh refers to the area north of Hamadan and south of Zangan. It is one of those areas that appears on rug book maps but nowhere else. Nonetheless it is a major production area of kurdish rugs from north of the Hamadan area.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

My main interest is looking for signs of mysteries in our life and studying evidences of their penetrations into the real world. Almost all my paintings and books (edited in Russian and Hebrew) are around this theme. As well I've been trying to detect mysterious penetrations in some «border» individuals. Presence of perceptible sorcery serves me as the principal criterion for selecting paintings to my private collection of «haunted» pieces of art.

So it was just natural to me to settle in Jerusalem, the most mysterious place in the world. This town has a great influence on my paintings.

I studied fine art in Russia (Stavropol Art School) and Israel (Betsalel Academy of Fine Arts). I got M.A. Degree in writing in Moscow Literature Institute and D.M. Degree, as well as postgraduate course in psychiatry in Stavropol Medical Academy. I am a Fellow of Israel Professional Artists Association.

Painting for me is a spiritual practice. The main trends of my work are: consciousness-developing, art therapy and haunted paintings.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

I know that some properties of certain things are beyond an ordinary comprehension.

I feel the influence of this imperceptible properties of certain things on fates and fortunes.

I am sure that everyone can develop his ability to comprehend over the frame of five usual senses.

I consider that everyone enjoying his opened mind and sensitivity must to help all the others to develop their comprehension.

I can help people to broaden the consciousness and to overcome certain problems and sufferings.

The series of original paintings «Cats and Angels of Jerusalem» is dedicated to the cooperation of the cats – the most mystic animals on the Earth, with the angels – heavenly creatures, the nearest to us. Jerusalem is the right place for them to meet. Everybody can find angel's and cat's halves inside him.
