Fresh from the easel: A lovely 12" x 12" x 3/4" Gallerywrap unframed impressionist landscape ! A stunning addition to an Arts & Crafts or Craftsman decor.
My work is a labor of love and it is my sole means of livelihood. I share this love with you for a humble living. My sole interest is painting work that you will want to live with in your own home and that reminds you of a place and time in your own life.
I had a painting listed recently with a LOT of folks watching, but no bids - and a customer walked in to the gallery and purchased it while the auction was active- so I had to cancel the auction. If there is a bid on any painting, I will immediately mark the painting "SOLD" in the gallery.
Title: "Going Home At Dusk"
Yep, the shipping on this one is FREE**!!! One of my "landscapes from my imagination". This original impressionist/tonalist painting would make a great addition to your art collection in your home or office. This is a great opportunity to purchase unframed work direct from a well known artist and avoid paying high gallery prices. Signed lower right. The edges have been painted a dark brown/black, so a frame is not needed for this piece. Please see the second image for how this looks.
If I am not listing the type or subject matter of painting you are looking for, PLEASE let me know what you want to see.... I want to paint what you folks want for your home! Too big, too small, too dark, too light, sunsets, clouds, mountains, ponds, creeks, paths, too much green, red, blue....etc. let me know!
Tonalism, according to the Taft Museum:
"19th and 20th Century American Artists who developed a style known as tonalism used broad areas of tone, simplified compositions, blurred forms, and a limited range of colors in order to suggest a harmony between figures and landscape. Their goal was often to express a belief in humankind's essential spiritual connection with nature, an idea introduced into 19th-century American culture by the writers Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau. "
Here's a quote from a turn-of-the-century Tonalist painter about Tonalism - This is how I feel about the technique:
“The Tonalist catches the laughter of shimmering light, and transmutes it into pictorial joy; he speaks admirably the old mother-tongue of cloud, tree, pool, and stone; he interprets the spring; he is summer’s scribe, page to the majesty of autumn, and priest to the whole round year. With a simple palette, and as if by magic, he expresses breadth, teasing transparency, mysterious distances, the illusion of luminosity—in a word, the drama of air, light, and colour.”
~ Henry Ward Ranger, 1914
This painting would sell framed for $600 in my gallery, or more in other galleries...
Details: 12" high x 12" wide x 3/4" deep Original Oil painting by Jan Schmuckal (check out the "Me" page!) I have sold many paintings to people all over the US, and my work has been shown and collected nationally. You can rest assured that what you are buying from me is 100% original, and painted either from my own references or an imagined composition. I only use archival quality paints and substrates and finish all paintings with an archival varnish for protection and durability. I paint on heavy-duty stock-size gallerywrap canvas that has been archivally primed, and the edges have been painted a dark neutral tone, so a frame is not necessary for this piece, but a stock size frame will be easy to find. I normally sell my larger paintings only through my art gallery in Geneva, IL, called Gallery 28. Visit us on the web, or if you are visiting Geneva, please stop in!
I will ship this painting Priority Mail, uninsured.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! Of course, I will discount shipping for multiple purchases.
Please remember colorance may vary slightly due to your individual monitor settings!
Thanks so much for looking, and Good Luck!
